ESOL – Reflection – Week 4

KIA ORA !!! READERS

Reflecting on the pre-test we did about birds as part of our preparation for the CAA, I found it to be a valuable experience. The pre-test challenged us to think critically about different aspects of birds, including their habitats, behaviors, and the importance of conservation.

Firstly, I discovered how much I enjoy learning about the diversity within bird species. Understanding their different habitats and the roles they play in ecosystems opened my eyes to the complexity of nature. It also highlighted the interconnectedness of species and the environment, which is something I hadn’t thought about deeply before.

Moreover, the pre-test helped me identify my strengths and areas for improvement in my English skills. I realized that while I understood the content well, I struggled with some vocabulary and sentence structure when expressing my thoughts. This feedback is invaluable as I work towards the CAA.

Preparing for this test also motivated me to engage more with the material. I started reading more articles and watching documentaries about birds, which has not only enriched my knowledge but has also made the learning process more enjoyable.

Overall, this pre-test was not just an assessment; it was an opportunity for growth. I am now more motivated to study and look forward to the upcoming CAA, armed with the insights and knowledge I have gained from this experience.

ESOL – Reflection

KIA ORA! Today, I want to share my reflection on the ESOL internal assessments. These assessments have been a great opportunity for me to evaluate my language skills and understand areas for improvement.

One of the key aspects I’ve noticed is the importance of aligning our ideas with the passages we read. As we practice, connecting our main ideas with the texts is crucial to ensure comprehension and effective responses. This application of knowledge not only helps during assessments but also enhances our overall reading skills.

Currently, we are working on slides for our upcoming reading assessment as well as preparing for the CAA, which is just around the corner. The collaborative practice with classmates has been beneficial, allowing us to share insights and strategies. This intensive preparation is helping build my confidence and readiness for the challenges ahead. Overall, I appreciate the structure that these assessments provide, as they guide my learning and growth in the English language.

My Discovery Unit – Term 4

KIA ORA !!!

In Health, we were set a task that required us to make a slot machine casino. The topic that I chose was creating the slot machine with my sister. We put in so much effort, and it was definitely worth it. Working together, we learned a lot about teamwork and creativity, and seeing our final product was advantageous. It was a fun experience that taught us not just about making something, but also about collaborating and enjoying the process.

Firstly, we had to come up with our six big questions. Once we had our questions, we brainstormed answers and developed strategies to address them. From there, we started working on our project and eventually finished it.

We chose to create a slot machine because gambling is one of the most popular pastimes worldwide. We wanted to explore the reasons behind its appeal and the side effects it can have on individuals and society.

When we first started planning and thinking about how we would finish this project and what we could do to make it look good, it was challenging. There was a lot of pressure, but in the end, we managed to make it look great and turn it into the number one project.

I coped with the challenge by putting in a lot of effort and staying hopeful throughout the process.

I worked well with others because our communication was strong, and our teamwork was effective.

I am really proud of what we have accomplished so far this year and hope to maintain that level of success for the rest of our studies.

Thank you for reading my blogpost. !!! 🙂

This year has been packed with a variety of subjects, projections, and unforgettable moments. Each term brought new challenges, from diving deep into complex concepts in maths to exploring the wonders of the natural world in science. I’ve especially enjoyed our history unit, where we delved into key events that shaped our society. It sparked my curiosity and pushed me to learn more about the world around me.

One highlight of the year was our group project in Wanaga collaborating with my classmates not only enhanced my communication skills but also taught me the importance of teamwork. We disagreed, but those moments taught me how to compromise and find common ground. It was fulfilling to see our hard work come together in a polished presentation.

Outside of academics, the extracurricular activities this year have been a significant part of my experience. Whether it was participating in sports, joining the drama club, or engaging in community service, these activities have helped me develop new skills and make lasting friendships.
